I’m a single dad of 4. For the last 4 months, we’ve been living in a tent on the street. MY HUSBAND FOUND A 17-YEAR-OLD LETTER IN A BOTTLE WHILE FISHING — READING IT SENT HIM TO FIND ITS LATE AUTHOR’S HOUSE. My husband came back from his fishing trip absolutely ecstatic! He was supposed to be gone until the evening, but he came rushing home just an hour and a half later, completely buzzing with excitement. “KATIE! HONEY! GET READY, WE’RE GOING TO THE NEXT TOWN OVER!” he shouted the second he burst through the door. I was totally confused, but then he showed me a letter he found sealed inside an old bottle. This letter was nearly 18 years old! After I read it, I asked, “Shouldn’t we call the police?” “No,” he said firmly. “We’re going to the house mentioned in the letter!” So, off we went. The town was about 20 miles away, and when we got there, we found the address — a rundown old house. But what really caught our attention was the set of basement doors described in the letter, and the mention of a key supposedly hidden under a floorboard near those doors.
